Making Money from Markets
Setups are what tells us when to enter and when to exit the market. They do not tell whether it is a trend following, or a breakout, or a contrarian entry (exit). They are just the part of any strategy that informs us of the situation.
I distinguish nine kinds of setups. They may be used in combination. I like some better and some less. And one or two deserve a lot more of literature and exploration.

I would almost say: Forget about that. Market direction is not really the thing. And: The anticipation is always already in the price. You will not be more knowing than the others. (I tried clearvoyants. I have been a well trained market astrologer. Prognosis was kind of too fuzzy…)

Especially when trading short-term time frames supports and resistances are offering chances. The market goes down towards the support (up towards the resistance) and most likely at least a litte reaction will take place. When we are trading for a few points only this reaction at support and resistance may be sufficient.

In the beginning the trader, naive and unexperienced, wants to make profits by intuitive trend following. “I feel it. It has to climb further.” When the amateur starts to follow the trend, it is almost over or a sharp market reaction is imminent.
